One wrong bus and a missed stop lead a woman straight to a kitten waiting to be found

Gustaw found his family thanks to a chain of events so oddly specific that the Cat Distribution System deserves credit for the planning.

Back in April, a couple had decided they would eventually adopt another cat, but they weren't looking to do it anytime soon. Their 17-year-old boy had recently passed over the rainbow bridge, and they figured they would wait a while, enjoy some time to travel, and bring another feline home when they felt ready. That was the plan, but the CDS had apparently already put their next cat on the schedule.

It started when the husband had to stay late at work, something that happens maybe once every few years. His wife had to take the bus home instead, and because it was hot, she grabbed the first one that arrived rather than waiting for her usual route. That choice meant a longer walk, but getting home sooner sounded worth it. Then she realized she had accidentally bought a timed ticket that was about to expire. While worrying about that, she missed her stop and ended up getting off one stop later.

At this point, the trip home was becoming unnecessarily complicated. Then she heard squeaking coming from the bushes near the bus stop she had originally meant to use.

There was Gustaw, weighing only 280 grams and waiting for the person who happened to take the wrong bus, buy the wrong ticket, miss the right stop, and walk past exactly the right bushes. Suddenly, every annoying little mistake that afternoon had a purpose.

Gustaw is now a proud 1.2 kilograms and has apparently used that extra weight to become an "absolute menace." His family may have thought they weren't ready for another cat quite yet, but the CDS knew better.

Sometimes taking the wrong route gets you exactly where you're supposed to be.

The CDS had quite a few steps to pull off before Gustaw could get where he needed to be. A rare late day at work, a different bus, the wrong ticket, a missed stop, and an extra walk all had to line up perfectly. It sounds like an unnecessarily complicated plan, but somehow it worked. Every little inconvenience pushed his future pawrent closer to those squeaks in the bushes. The CDS took the long way around, but it got the exact result it wanted.

Gustaw is ridiculously adorable, and it’s hard to believe this fluffy little guy was once only 280 grams of squeaks hiding in the bushes. That sweet face would have made it impossible to keep walking once he was spotted. Now he’s bigger, healthier, and apparently putting all that new kitten energy toward becoming a full-time menace. We have a feeling he can get away with just about anything, though. With a face like that, staying mad at him probably isn’t an option.

There were just too many little coincidences lining up for Gustaw to end up anywhere else. A normal day at work, the usual bus, or getting off at the correct stop could have changed the whole story. Instead, one thing after another put his future pawrent within earshot of those squeaks in the bushes. They might not have been looking for another cat yet, but Gustaw clearly didn’t care about their timeline. He needed a family, and somehow he found his way to one.
